Dumfries & Galloway Agricultural farm building
• Demolition of derelict farm buildings
• Steel framed cow shed (101x54ft)
• Steel framed cow shed (101x54ft)
Key Project Phases and Considerations
Phase 1: Demolition
Site Assessment & Planning: Thorough assessment of existing structures, identification of hazardous materials (e.g., asbestos), and development of a detailed demolition plan adhering to all safety regulations and environmental guidelines.
Safety Protocols: Implementation of stringent health and safety measures, including site security, exclusion zones, and personal protective equipment (PPE) for all personnel.
Waste Management: Efficient segregation, removal, and disposal of demolition debris. Emphasis placed on recycling and repurposing materials where feasible, minimizing landfill waste in accordance with environmental best practices.
Environmental Protection: Measures to control dust, noise, and potential contamination during demolition, ensuring minimal impact on surrounding areas.
Phase 2: New Construction (Steel-Framed Cow Shed)
Design & Engineering: Review and adherence to structural designs and engineering specifications for the new cow shed, ensuring stability, durability, and compliance with building codes.
Foundation Work: Preparation of the site and laying of appropriate foundations to support the new steel-framed structure, ensuring long-term stability.
Steel Erection: Assembly and erection of the steel frame, a critical phase requiring precision and adherence to structural integrity standards.
Cladding & Roofing: Installation of appropriate cladding and roofing materials to provide weather protection, insulation, and ventilation suitable for livestock housing.
Internal Fit-out: Integration of essential internal features such as feed barriers, watering systems, lighting, and effective drainage solutions to create an optimal environment for the cows.
Quality Assurance: Continuous inspection and quality checks throughout the construction process to ensure high standards of workmanship and material quality.
Expected Outcomes Upon completion, the project resulted in:
A cleared, safe, and prepared site free from outdated and derelict structures.
A state-of-the-art, durable, and functional steel-framed cow shed, significantly improving the farm's capacity and conditions for livestock management.
Enhanced overall farm efficiency and modernization, contributing to sustainable agricultural practices.
Swift AES is committed to delivering this project safely, on schedule, and to the highest standards of quality, paving the way for a more productive and efficient farming operation.
